Mass at the Cathedral
Daily Life
St. Mary's Cathedral is a bustling community in the heart of Newcastle City Centre. Each week we see scores of tourists and casual visitors. Many who visit the Cathedral, however, are regular worshippers who bring their own vivacity and character to the Cathedral. As a parish and a community the Cathedral tries to provide for the spiritual, pastoral and social needs for all who walk through the doors.

The Parish
The Cathedral is the mother church of the Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle and is so called because in it the bishop has his official throne (Cathedra). The day-to-day running of the Cathedral is overseen by the Cathedral Dean who is supported in this role by the other resident clergy.
