The main source of data about the history of St. Mary's Cathedral is contained in the Notice Books from 1854 until 1968, the year when the weekly newsletter began. There are also miscellaneous papers and pictures etc but not as full a record as one would wish to have.

Various documents, booklets and papers are now filed away so that future generations may know about the life of the parish as we live it today.

Cathedral registers prior to 1948 are stored in Blandford House at the Discovery Museum, Blandford Square, Newcastle upon Tyne.
