The Cathedral Choir
The Cathedral Choir comprises more than thirty men and women who sing
weekly at the 11.30am Sunday Mass and at the major Diocesan and Cathedral
liturgies throughout the year. The Choir aims to enhance liturgical
celebration by covering the widest possible range of Catholic Christian
Music - from the earliest Latin plainsong to recent popular compositions
- and by offering four-part choral pieces as well as music for congregational
participation. The Cathedral Choir is not an exclusive group. Anyone
who can sing in tune and who is able to attend practices regularly
is welcome to join. Some abilty to read music is desirable but by no
means essential. Practices take place on Fridays 5.30pm - 7.00pm (with
occasional extra practices on Wednesdays to prepare for bigger occasions).
The Music Group
The Music Group is an open enthusiastic group of people of various ages
who enjoy singing and playing a variety of instruments together. They
are committed to leading the singing at the 6.30pm Mass each Sunday
with a short rehersal beforehand. They also have informal practice
sessions/social gatherings from time to time.
