The Carols by Candlelight at St Mary's Cathedral attracted hundreds of people
from throughout the diocese on Thursday 18th December. An inspiring service
of lovely carols and well chosen readings made the evening a wonderful start
to Christmas. St Mary's Cathedral Choir led the congregation in singing many
traditional favourites carols, and also performed on their own the delightful "Christ
was born on Christmas Day".
A special feature of the service was the carols sung by children from Our
Lady and St Anne's Primary School, which included the lovely "Away in
a Manger".
A collection was taken for WERS - the West End Refugee Service, who help
those in need locally who have come to our country as refugees.
