Originally all the
windows in the church, with the exception of the west window, had stained
glass.
During World War II, several windows, including the great east window,
were damaged by a bomb blast. As a precautionary measure, the east window
was removed and replaced with frosted glass for the remaining duration
of
the war. After the war, it was restored and refitted. Repairs were made
using glass from damaged side-windows, which were simply replaced by
plain glass.
