Work continues on the restoring the stonework on the East Window as the stonemasons continue with their painstaking task of ensuring that the window and its fittings are safe. Parts of the stonework on the church and house had been falling off onto the street below! We hope that this work won’t take much longer. This restoration is estimated to cost the Cathedral Community £125,000 – this is a huge amount of money to raise, so we are appealing to your generosity to ensure that our beautiful Cathedral may stand for another 175 years to the glory of God and his Blessed Mother.

We realise that these are difficult times financially for everyone. However if you are able to consider contributing in some way and would like to discuss this further, contact the Cathedral Office: St Mary’s Cathedral, Clayton Street West, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 5HH Telephone: 0191 232 6853 ext 200 Email:
Should you wish to send a cheque, please make it payable to ‘St Mary’s Cathedral’.
Huge thanks and sincere gratitude to all of those who have made generous contributions to this fund so far.
