Cathedral Church of St Mary

Newcastle upon Tyne

Over the next two weeks the Friends of St Mary's will be selling cards and raffle tickets in aid of The Missionaries of Charity. Affectionately known as the "Mother Teresa Nuns ", the sisters work with some of the most vulnerable people in the city and we would like to offer them a donation at Christmas. The tickets ( £1 per strip ) and cards (£2 per pack of 8 ) will be on sale after the Sunday Masses at the back of church and in the Café during the week.
The prize winners will be drawn on Sunday 17th December at 11.30 Mass. Please help us contribute to this worthy cause by supporting this venture. Thank you in anticipation of your generosity.

CAFOD World Gifts
World Gifts seek to provide practical help to those in need and proved to be very popular last year when the Cathedral community hoped to buy at least 10 goats and 10 trees as gifts from the parish. The final amount raised was £450 which enabled us to purchase many more items. This Christmas, we hope to support another community in the same way. If you would like to contribute please place your gifts in the envelopes provided at the back of Church and we will keep you informed of progress. For further information about the work of CAFOD or world gifts in particular, please visit the website: gifts

This year, St Cuthbert’s Care are focusing on helping one of the diocesan parish community enablement projects (PACE) to provide lunch, gifts and take-away food parcels to more than forty homeless adults on Christmas Day. They are meeting the costs and providing volunteers for the day, any donations received during Advent will go directly toward this particular cause. There will be a retiring collection at all Masses this Sunday for the work of the organisation.
