See Guidelines for those attending Mass

The numbers of people able to enter the Church for Mass will be strictly limited according to the 1 metre plus rule. Benches are clearly marked and with the possibility of some family benches we should be able to accommodate around 130 people. Once this number is reached then no one else will be able to enter the Church.

It would be extremely helpful for us to know if you intend coming to one of the weekend Masses so we have an idea of numbers. If you can - please call the Cathedral Office any time after 9am on 0191 2326953 or email office@stmaryscathedral.org.uk and register for the Mass you wish to attend. Please also remember to bring a face covering – this a requirement for all coming to attend Mass.

YouTube Live Stream
The Cathedral will live stream Holy Mass each day Monday to Friday at 12 noon and on a Sunday at 11.30am

BAPTISMS and CONFESSIONS

Canon Michael McCoy, Cathedral Dean, writes:

BAPTISMS - I am aware that several families had to postpone baptisms throughout the closure of our churches. We are able to celebrate baptisms again although the Government has put a limit on those attending to 30 people. If you would like to arrange a baptism please call the Cathedral Office.

CONFESSIONS - We are unable to use the Confessionals at the moment but if you would like to celebrate this Sacrament then please book an appointment with one of the priests by contacting the Cathedral Office. We hope to designate a room near the Cathedral Office with a suitable screen maintaining the appropriate social distancing.
